Greetings, October, 2013
Can you imagine having no clothes at all? What if you were sent a special dress just for you, from a small town in the United States? What if you were the one sending the dress? You can be part of the Pillowcase Project and put a smile on the face of an orphan in India, Haiti, and Africa.
The Power of One Club created over 800 dresses in the past three years and we are gearing up to blow past 1000!! Woot, Woot! During the months of November and December we will be ironing, sewing, and hand-designing pillowcases into dresses. Don’t know how to sew? No problem, we will teach you!! Every Monday and Tuesday, beginning on November 4th and 5th (that we are in school) we will be sewing. Come change the world one dress at a time. This activity can be used for community service hours in SS, too.
In preparation for November sewing we need new or lightly used pillowcases, odd ribbon, and lace. We also need Tax Credit contributions in order to purchase other sewing supplies and pay for the postage to send the dresses. With previous year contributions we were able to purchase six new sewing machines, irons, ribbon, thread, and postage. We need your help again. Please, even a small contribution makes a big difference.
We are also in desperate need of moms, dads, older siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents to help sew, iron, and supervise. Or, if you would like to work at home on this project we can send instructions and materials. We need several people who know how to sew to complete some prep on the pillowcases as well.
Parents, please, contact Mrs. Sprague if would like to take part in this project or would like more information, [email protected] You can get Tax Credit information from the front office; Power of One Club.
Thank you,
